Skinny doset equal beautiful

Health equals beautiful. Glowing skin. Healthy hair and teeth. Happiness.
Not skin and bones. Not sad runway face.......

I'm just sayin'

Canning for winter

Green beans, lightly salted and yams.
An abundance of produce and laughter.
Children at toe, an old movie and chickens clucking about the latest news. I love canning. I live everything about canning. I love the hot air, the hot jars, the fresh produce and the sound of "click" when the jar has sealed. I love little fingers stealing the produce as the mound of apricots gets smaller and smaller. But mostly, I love how beautiful the jars look filled with yummy goodness. I. Love. To. Can.

Popcorn popcorn popcorn

I can't wait to take this photo, 5 years from now, then again in 10.
My sweet girls sharing popcorn and watching a movie. I love my girls.

What a wonderful party

The Butz celebrated their 30th year of marriage. In celebration, the Martinez Confergation party till dawn. Primarily hosted by 2 sisters, with the over guidance of a few brothers; 120 guest ate finger foods, sat at the worlds longest purple table, drank tea and mingled. It was a wonderful surprise for sister Butz, who had no idea what was going on. It was so loving of so many people, to show their love to them.
The candles were such a great touch. Giant purple tissue balls hung from trees. Lights were strung and the night air was perfect!!! Sooo sweet.

The next generation

As she watches a movie on her iPod, steaming into the families movies, head phones snug and her Jammie's on, what is she doing? Texting her boyfriend? No. Facebooking people aimlessly? No. Tweeting? Nope.
Not out girl. Our sweet girl is lightly rubbing the dirt off the tops of white button mushrooms so mama and nonna can, Can them on Monday.
Who says this is a lost art? Not in my house. In my house, the 2 year old can divide the produce, the 13 year old can peel them and mama can, Can them.
And yes, I'm sure apple has an app for that. :)

Pineapple update

Awhile back, I discovered you can grow a pineapple from a cut pineapple top.
So I cut the top, made daiquiris from the bottom and slapped that sucker in water. But it died. So I changed the water. And it shriveled. So I changed the water and put it in the sun, and part of her turned green. Really? Is this plant growing from nothing?!!

THEN I discovered you can do the same to green onions and celery.

I saw SAME day results from the green onion and the celery.

A good note to keep; there is not a root system developed on the pineapple and the celery. Maybe they will grow...

But how exciting to grow produce from the produce section of Winco! <3
