All done with the candied orange peels!!

They were washed, scrubbed, dried, boiled, drained, dried, dipped and sugared. All in the name of yummy!! What a beautiful gift!!

Very sweet flavor. I used milk chocolate instead of dark. I personally enjoy the flavor of dark but everyone else didn't. Oh well.

Update on black olives

If only you could smell the salty wetness of these olives! My husband is doing such a great job!!!!

Homemade orange chicken

Using the sugar syrup from the candied orange rinds, I made a thick glaze for cut up chicken. All the steps are a little- duh- easy. Its very pretty-- very cool to reuse the syrup.
3 children taste tasted:
"too sticky"
"too sweet"
"more orange less sweet"
And no one went back for more.
So my doctor it up?; red pepper flakes. Spicy sweet. I will let you know how my hubby likes it.

Over all stars: 1 Star
This dish would be good as a small sweet thing on a plate of many other textures and flavors. But by itself it STUNK! Koral said she would eat the whole plate, and since I dont want her to DIE OF DIABEATES... I said no and fed the whole dish to the dog. Good news, dogs WILL eat it. LOL

Its pretty though.

Salting the olives

Step 2 : salt your olives.
They are going to shrivel up from the salt and drip olive juice. Eventually you will get yummy Greek olives. But right now they are plump and black.

I know I already said this...

BUT...
This home made MIT chocolate chip ice cream is amazing!!!! Family can't stop eating it!!!!

First stages of candied orange peel-

Here are the first stages of my home made candied orange peel.

Cut the oranges into segments.
Then boil the oranges in water for 30 min. Then drain. Then add 5 cups of sugar to just enough water to cover the oranges. Then boil for 30 min. Cover with lid. Let sit until tomorrow.
I will post new info as I go. Hopefully I won't jack this one up!!! Man, I really messed up the last batch!!!

Note: I used oranges, lemons and limes from my backyard. Very pretty and quite practical!!

Steak nachos!!!

Left overs turned-- crazy amazing!
Slow cooked steak, cut into thin strips, and heated with onions in a cast iron pan. Add shredded cheese, jalapeños, home made refried beans and more cheese. Do I have to say; add chips?!
And eat-- wait what's that sounds?
Oh, just my hips growing. Ignore that sound, it's natural around here.

Home-made mint chocolate chip ice cream

I used a ice cream maker ....
Followed a 5 star recipe I found online-
Took my time--
And super amazing---
Super delicious!!!
I think it taste better than the stores version. Note: does bot freeze in ice cream maker. But will mix perfectly.

Doggy jacket

I made a last second doggy jacket for my big ol dog. I cut the sleeves off the sweater for a 10 year old boy. Quickly sewed the backend while someone gave her love. Taaa daaaa.

Note to self: upon coming home, she was WITHOUT sweater. Still haven't found sweater.

Lol!!
