The big fish

Once upon a time, fishing wasn't just for leisure. It was dinner. It was a lunch sandwich with fries. It was a requirement that papa went out all fishing all day. He would come home with a whole bouquet of fish. Then mama would do whatever she had to do to make it edible.

I told my husband, why not make it a requirement to fish once, twice a month? To go out and fish, bring home beautiful fish and also relax from the heavy weight of the grind.

He brought home a 63 inch stergon. Which I can't spell. :) I would love to write his whole experience of bringing in a almost 5 foot fish; but it's his story to tell.

We hung it, gutted it, skinned it, filleted it and froze it. 4- 1 gallon size freezer bags of 3 inch steaks. There was 2 batches of what I call "nuggets". The little bits of meat that I couldn't bear to throw away, but didn't meet "steak" quality beauty. I deep fried that baby! The fish is so fresh and good. No lingering fish taste or smell. Just a delicious!!!
